Rollerblade created an all-new liner with a rubberised bottom. The rubber stops the liner from moving around inside the skate, making better feedback and energy transfer. It includes other features expected on any modern liner, such as a neoprene toe box and a lace-up tongue.
A developed performance innersole offers excellent arch support, helping both users with flat feet or high arches, reducing the need to purchase an aftermarket option. An additional "foot sizer slip" comes in the box. The foot sizer is optional and can change the size from full size to half size.
The boot includes a shock absorber designed to slot into the shell, so it does not move. The shock absorber prevents heel bruising and gives an excellent overall impression to the boot. The combination of the liner, insole and shock absorber parts provides a wonderfully advanced control.
The reworked Solo boot and all-new cuff look great and offer lots of stability and support. The cuff features a buckle protector both internally and externally, which should reduce damage. The velcro 45 strap on the shell is optional (but looks better with it on in our opinion). The strap locks the ankle into place for perfect energy transfer.
Probably the boot's best feature is the independent shell sizing, which a brand has not achieved since the '00s. You no longer need to worry about dual fit or shared shell sizing. I've always wondered how people would react when purchasing trainers in a store if the sales staff said "that the UK7 is the same as the UK8", but, "not to worry, just use an extra insole if there is too much room". Seriously, Blank. Bravo.
The all-new soleplate might be a world first. As well as decent sole/negative space and reinforced groove area, Blank removed the centre of the soleplate to allow the frame to attach directly to the underside of the boot. Doing this creates superior control and centre of gravity when compared to other skates. It feels fast, fun and close to the foot.
The Blank frame has been around for a long time and works great both for anti-rocker and flat setups. The lifted edges of the frame make locking topside grinds easier and more slidey. The axles are one-sided and lock into the frame, making changing wheels a breeze—a simple but highly effective frame.
Rollerblade included Hydrogen 60mm/90a wheels, which are pretty much the best money can buy, along with anti-rocker wheels pre-installed!
